How to Use URL-Based Tab Activation
The URL-Based Tab Activation feature allows you to automatically open a specific tab when someone lands on your page.
By adding a simple query parameter (e.g., ?wp_etb=tab2) to the URL, you can direct users straight to the content they need. It’s ideal for marketing links, help documentation, or sharing targeted sections with others.
Who Should Use This
Documentation Authors: Link directly to relevant sections in long tutorials
Marketers & Campaigns: Drive traffic to featured product details or offers
Support Teams: Share precise answers by deep-linking to FAQ tabs
Content Creators: Embed links in emails or social posts that open to the right tab
Prerequisites
Easy Tabs Block Pro activated
A Tabs block with a unique Query Parameter Name set in the Tab Button sidebar
At least two tab buttons, each with a distinct query parameter value (e.g., tab1, tab2)
How to Configure URL-Based Activation
To enable URL-based tab activation, start by selecting a Tab Button in the Gutenberg editor to open its sidebar settings.
Under the URL-Based Tab Activation section, enter a unique key for the tab—for example, tab2. Then, click Copy URL to get a direct link like https://example.com/page/?wp_etb=tab2 that opens the page with that specific tab active.
Repeat this process for other tabs by assigning different keys such as tab1, tab3, and so on.

How This Feature Works
When a user visits a URL that includes ?wp_etb=yourKey, the Easy Tabs Block reads the query parameter and automatically opens the corresponding tab on page load. If the key doesn’t match any tab, the block simply displays the default active tab you’ve previously set.
Example Use Cases
Feature Spotlight: Share ?wp_etb=pricing to send users directly to pricing details.
FAQ Answers: Link ?wp_etb=faq3 in support tickets to open the precise question tab.
Onboarding Guides: Email new users a link that jumps right to the “Get Started” tab.
With URL-Based Tab Activation, you give users direct access to the exact tab content they need, enhancing navigation, improving user experience, and boosting engagement.
